This week I watched The Adam Project. The film was directed by Shawn Levy and it stars Ryan Reynolds and Jennifer Garner. Adam Reed is a time traveler. He ended up back in the year past. While in that past, he meets up with his younger self. The film focuses around the two on a mission to save the future.
I liked watching this film. I thought that it had a pretty good plot and I didn’t really think that it got boring. I’m glad that I decided to watch it on Netflix. I mean I thought that the plot was something that I’ve seen in another film but I still think that it is somewhat original. It has a good story and I feel like it keeps the action throughout the film. I like the visual effects of the film and I thought that it was a film that many people could find enjoyable. Again, I liked the story but I feel like it’s something that I’ve seen before. I don’t know, maybe it’s just me. I feel like if I was a bit younger I would have liked the film a lot more. Overall, I thought that it was a pretty good film. I’m giving it a 7/10

Over the weekend I watched The Lost Daughter. The film was directed by Maggie Gyllenhaal and it stars Olivia Colman and Dakota Johnson. The film focuses around a college professor who confronts her unsettling past after meeting a woman and her young daughter while on vacation in Italy. There later becomes an obsession with the woman and her daughter. The obsession starts to bring back memories.
I thought the film was pretty good. The movie shows the story of a mother who struggles with parenthood. She regrets her early life decisions and tries to make amends. I think that Olivia Colman brought so much emotion to the film and I think that she did a very great job. There are not many twists and there's not a lot of action but the film is still very interesting. It’s probably not my favorite film but it was still enjoyable to watch. I’m giving this film a 7/10. This week I watched The Secret World of Arrietty. The film was directed by Hiromasa Yonebayashi. This is another Studio Ghibli film. The story is about a girl and her parents who are really really small, also known as the borrowers. Arrietty wants to explore the bigger world. But her parents prefer for her not to go out into the real world. They want her to stay safe and to stay away from the humans. The whole film is about her wanting to explore the bigger world but still try to keep her family safe.
I really enjoyed watching this film. This another one of the very few Studio Ghibli films that I have seen. I don't know what is is about Studio Ghibli but I just think that their films have great stories. I actually think that this film is kind of sad at times because of the Sho's, the human boy, condition with his heart. I also love the aesthetic of this film. This film just gives me good vibes and I wouldn't really change anything about it. I'm giving it a 10/10 and I would definitely recommend watching it if you haven't before. Over the weekend I watched Level 16. The film was directed by Danishka Esterhazy. The story focusses around a group of girls living in an institution type place. The institution is set up like a school, in a way, and the girls have basically lived their whole life there. Every year the girls move up a level in the building. Once they get to level 16, that is when the get "adopted." The whole story is kind of mind-bending and the headmaster of this "school" is very strict with the girls.
I thought the film was okay. I like the mind-bending type movies because they really make me think a lot. When I found out what was truly happening at this institution, I was very surprised and a little concerned. This is one of those films that really isn't that popular but if you sit down and watch it, it could be very interesting. I felt like it was a little boring at times because there were many scenes where the girls were just watching videos on how to be a proper lady or something like that. It was weird though because the girls at the school didn't do any actual school work. They didn't even know how to read. I thought this film was interesting but I felt like it was a little longer than it should have been. I mean it's almost a two hour movie so it's not too long but I think it would have done really well if it was ether a short film or maybe a limited series. I'm giving this film a 6/10. I would recommend watching it if you are in to the mind-bending stories. Over the weekend I watched Interstellar. The film was directed by Christopher Nolan and it stars Matthew McConaughey and Anne Hathaway. Interstellar takes place in Earth's future where there are no plants growing except for corn. There is also the second Dust Bowl that is slowly rendering the planet uninhabitable. There is a mission for people to be sent into space to try and find a new planet for the people on Earth to live on. The only problem is time is very different. When in space, time feels normal but on Earth so much time is passing and the pilots of the space mission are missing so much of their life.
I enjoyed watching this film. I really liked the story and it was definitely a mind-bending movie. I know I'm a bit late to watching this film but I'm definitely glad that I decided to watch it. I feel like it's something that is new to me and it's definitely a type of plot that I haven't really seen before in other movies besides Inception. I really liked the soundtrack, especially the cornfield chase scene. I also liked the ticking in the film. One tick of a clock symbolizes a single day passing on Earth while the pilots of the mission are on another planet. The time is so messed up in this movie because pilot Cooper, played by Matthew McConaughey, even says that every hour they spend on a specific planet that's seven years gone by on Earth. I of course loved the cinematography of the film and I would definitely like to see another film like this that has a lot of weird plots and mind-bending aspects. I'm going to get this film a 9/10. Everything about it was really cool but I thought the runtime of the film was a little bit too long for my liking. Other than that I would definitely recommend watching the film if you haven't before. Over the weekend I watched Don’t Look Up. The film was directed by Adam McKay and it stars many famous actors such as Leonardo DiCaprio, Jennifer Lawrence and many others. It’s like they looked up top actors and just put them all into one movie. This film is about an asteroid heading straight for Earth and a group of people try to tell everyone on the planet that it’s a serious problem. But everyone, including the U.S. president, played by Meryl Streep, doesn’t believe that it’s going to happen.
I liked this film. The whole point of the film was supposed to be a play on climate change. They were trying to tell people that climate change is a serious problem and that we have to take action. The only problem is that people seem to not care and decide to just brush it off. That’s basically what’s happening now. This film was a comedy but it still touches on some important topics. I liked the film but I don’t really think that it needed to be a two hour long film. It probably could have been cut down by like an hour or so. I’m giving it a 7/10. I thought it was funny and I would recommend watching it but I thought it was way longer than it should have been. Over the weekend I watched Turning Red, directed by Domee Shi. This film focusses around a young girl named Meilin Lee, Mei for short. If you've seen the trailer, Mei has the ability to transform into a red panda depending on her current emotion. This is a Disney-Pixar film that was just recently released on Disney+. When I first saw the trailer, I didn't really know what to think. The style of characters in this film is new to Pixar and I think that they really stepped out of their traditional designs. I saw this happen with Pixar's Luca as well. Nothing wrong with it, it's just new. I didn't really know what the story was going to be about but I'm glad that I decided to watch this film. The film shows the struggles of growing up and I think that it's a bit of a play on what it's like to go through puberty. It shows the struggles of middle school as well as the relationships between friends and family. I didn't think that I would like this film but after watching it, I think that many people can relate to Mei. The film really does show what it can be like to grow up, especially as a middle school girl. I really liked the diversity of the characters as well and I thought that the early 2000's theme was pretty funny. This film steps out of the traditional world of Pixar and it really shows what real life can be like, minus the red panda part. I'm going to give this film an 8/10. I thought it was cute and I would recommend watching it.
Over the weekend I watched Grave of the Fireflies. This is a Studio Ghibli film and it was directed by Isao Takahata. The film focuses around a boy named Seita Yokokawa and his younger sister Setsuko. The two struggle to survive, in Japan, during the final months of the Second World War. The two are separated from their parents and we see Seita trying to take care of Setsuko to keep her alive. This film has been ranked as one of the greatest war films of all time and has been recognized as a major work of Japanese animation.
I absolutely loved this film. I haven’t really seen many Studio Ghibli films before but I’m glad that I decided to watch this one. I have seen it before but we brought it up in film class so I decided to watch it again. This film is very beautiful and it has a really good story. I definitely cried a few times. I think that Studio Ghibli films have a unique art style to them which makes them very mesmerizing to watch. They are very aesthetic. Although it was a very beautiful film, I thought that the story was very turing. The thing that was hard was that it looked like everything was going to be okay at the beginning of the film, then everything ended up getting worse. I loved the two main characters and I thought that the younger sister was very cute. That’s why it brought tears to my eyes when I found out what happened to her. I’m giving this film a 10/10 and I would definitely watch this film for it’s amazing story and beautiful art. I hope to watch more Studio Ghibli films in the future. Over the weekend I watched Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile. The film was directed by Joe Berlinger and it stars Zac Efron and Lily Collins. The film is about a single mother, Liz, who falls for Ted Bundy. She refuses to believe the truth about his crimes for years. And this is all based on a true story. I thought the film was pretty cool. There were actually some parts of the film that were shot in the Northern Kentucky and Cincinnati area. You can see people running out of the courthouse building down in Newport and there's even another shot where you can see the NKU sign in the background. I like the cinematography of the film and I thought the way they placed certain scenes was unique. But story-wise, it probably wasn't my most favorite thing. I thought it was a bit slow at points and I had a little trouble following along but it wasn't horrible. I would recommend watching this film for the cinematography as well as trying to point out the local buildings and landmarks. I wouldn't watch this film for the story though. Again it wasn't horrible, it was just a bit plain. I’m giving this film a 6/10.
Over the weekend I watched a Wrinkle in Time. The film was directed by Ava DuVernay and it stars Oprah Winfrey, Reese Witherspoon and Mindy Kaling. The film was based off of the book by Madeleine L'engle. I remember reading the book in middle school and really enjoying it. I liked watching the film but I thought that there were aspects that could have been better. There were parts in the movie that were not in the book or they left out some important parts from the book. I liked the soundtrack of the film and I think that it has some good visual effects but that was about it. It's not a movie that really stood out to me and I thought that the plot was kind of boring. I wouldn't recommend watching this film if you have read the book before. If you haven't read the book, then the film isn't horrible. I'm giving it a 6/10. I think the trailer made the film look better than what it actually was.
